Job summary

Hawthorn School District 73 seeks an Resource Instructional Assistant for Grades 1-5 to support teachers and students in daily classroom activities. You will work with individuals or small groups to reinforce lessons and help maintain a productive learning environment, while ensuring confidentiality and safety.

The role requires communicating effectively with children and parents, following directions, and collaborating with staff.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional license or Short-Term License required or available for candidates with high school diploma
• Experience working with students in a learning center atmosphere preferred
• Illinois elementary teaching certificate preferred
• Spanish language ability preferred
• Strong communication with children and parents required
• Ability to follow directions and work well with adults

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in achieving learning objectives with individual students or small groups
• Implement strategies to reinforce skills based on students' needs
• Reinforce learning of skills or content introduced by the teacher
• Support classroom management and supervise students for a safe environment
• Communicate with teachers about student issues or special information
• Maintain confidentiality of student information
• Assist with drills, reading aloud, independent study, enrichment, and remedial activities
• Participate in training programs and school duties as assigned by the Principal
