Job summary

Onslow County Schools in North Carolina is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support classroom teachers, assist with instruction, and help manage student behavior. The position is a 10-month term with PayGrade 56 and non-exempt status.

The role requires an associate degree (preferred) or a degree with emphasis in math, reading, writing and content knowledge, plus the ability to use technology and work collaboratively with staff. ETTP certification may be required within the first year.

Qualifications

• Two year Associate's Degree in Education preferred.
• Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university required (must include an emphasis in mathematics, reading, writing and content knowledge)

Responsibilities

• Follow all school rules, policies, and procedures.
• Assist in classroom/student management and maintain discipline.
• Give group instruction as prescribed by teacher.
• Provide individualized instruction.
• Demonstrate various instructional activities.
• Prepare visual aids and instructional materials.
• Assess student work as instructed by teacher.
• Record student behavior, progress, and related data; monitor safety.
• Distribute and collect instructional materials.
• Assist students with digital age learning in the classroom.
• Encourage and support academic growth.
• Model ethical and appropriate behavior.
• Assist needs of all students, including exceptional students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
