Qualifications

• Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED
• Education/Certification: Valid Texas educational aide certificate
• Education/Certification: MISD paraprofessional test
• Education/Certification: 48 College Hours/Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to work well with children
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to communicate effectively
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to use PC & software for spreadsheets/databases/word documents

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual scholars or small groups.
• Help supervise scholars throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual scholars.
• May perform duties at either elementary or secondary campus.
• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Report to work in a timely manner according to assigned schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.
