Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; college training preferred.
• Must meet certification requirements of the State Department of Education (Teacher Aide Certificate).
• Paraprofessional Certificate required or minimum 48 semester hours at an accredited college or university.
• Demonstrated aptitude for the work and health certification from a physician.
• Residence in Alliance City Schools district preferred.

Responsibilities

• Record and administer achievement and diagnostic tests as directed by the teacher.
• Work with students or small groups to reinforce learning as instructed.
• Type and duplicate instructional materials as needed by the classroom teacher.
• Contact parents for conferences or emergency situations as needed.
• Check notebooks, correct papers, supervise make-up tests, and assist with large group activities.
• Serve as a resource for substitute teachers and alert the regular teacher to issues.
• Assist with lunch, cleanup, wash-up, and toilet routines; provide study hall supervision.
• Perform clerical tasks and maintain files; assist with supervision of activities.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment; handle orders and requisitions.
• Provide student assistance during trips or drills; keep information confidential.
