Job summary

Persevere in Memphis seeks a Classroom Facilitator to support our two-week Digital Hospitality and Workforce Technology Pathway at the Federal Residential Reentry Center. This part-time, onsite role supervises approximately 10–15 students as they complete self-paced coursework in Moodle and approved certification platforms. The schedule is Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

and 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. (18 hours per week).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and ability to support reentry work
  • Comfort with laptops, email and online platforms; Moodle experience preferred
  • Strong communication, organization and recordkeeping skills
  • Ability to work respectfully with justice-impacted adults and protect confidentiality
  • Reliable transportation and ability to meet facility access/security requirements

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional, structured, welcoming classroom and supervise 10–15 students
  • Take attendance, document participation, contact absent students, report concerns
  • Assist onboarding with account creation, orientation, and Moodle assignments
  • Help students with Moodle, Cert platforms, and laptop troubleshooting
  • Monitor coursework, assessments and progress; keep records up to date
  • Distribute, inventory, charge, inspect and secure classroom devices
  • Encourage independence and connect students with staff for support
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow contract requirements; report issues
  • Participate in onboarding, training, and program delivery activities

Job Overview

The Classroom Facilitator supports Persevere's two-week Digital Hospitality and Workforce Technology Pathway at the Federal Residential Reentry Center. This part-time, onsite role supervises and assists approximately 10-15 students per session as they complete self-paced coursework in Moodle and approved certification platforms. The schedule is Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. (18 hours per week). The position is tied to Persevere's Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development contract and continued program funding. No regular travel is required beyond commuting to the worksite.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain a professional, structured, welcoming classroom and supervise approximately 10-15 students during each session.
  • Take attendance, document participation, contact absent students, and report recurring attendance or engagement concerns to Persevere and facility personnel.
  • Support onboarding in coordination with the Quality &Compliance Manager and Senior Manager of Learning & Innovation, including account creation, orientation, and Moodle course assignment.
  • Assist students with Moodle, ServSafe, CareerSafe, Coursera, laptops, digital course materials, and basic login or platform troubleshooting.
  • Monitor coursework, assessments, certifications, and barriers to completion; maintain accurate progress records and provide required updates.
  • Distribute, collect, inventory, charge, inspect, and secure classroom devices; promptly report damage, missing equipment, or maintenance needs.
  • Encourage student independence while identifying academic, technical, or personal support needs and connecting students with appropriate staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries, follow Persevere, facility, and contract requirements, and report safety, behavioral, technology, or compliance concerns.
  • Participate in required onboarding, training, and meetings and perform other duties needed for successful program delivery.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; experience in reentry services and classroom or group management.
  • Proficiency with laptops, email, web browsers, and online platforms, with the ability to learn Moodle and approved certification systems.
  • Strong communication, organization, recordkeeping, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work respectfully with justice-impacted adults, support varying levels of digital literacy, and protect confidential information.
  • Reliable transportation, availability for the assigned split schedule, and ability to satisfy facility access, orientation, safety, and security requirements.
  • Ability to sit or stand for portions of class, move throughout the classroom, operate and secure devices, and lift or carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Preferred: experience with an LMS, adult digital-literacy support, progress tracking, trauma-informed practices, or a residential reentry, correctional, workforce, or nonprofit setting.
