Job summary

A supportive community organization is seeking a Classroom Aide/Driver to transport individuals safely to day service programs. Responsibilities include developing training programs, case management, and maintaining safety and confidentiality during all interactions. Candidates must hold a valid MA driver's license, be at least 20.5 years old with 3 years of driving experience, and be able to complete required background checks.   • Maintain confidentiality and complete administrative tasks.
  • Follow routes and ensure safety of all passengers.

Summary:

This Classroom Aide/Driver 3 transports individuals safely to and from day service programs as their Driver. As an Aide, duties include developing, implementing, and supervising a training program designed to meet each individual's needs, case management of designated individuals, and participation in general duties.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm (40 Hours)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Work with and train individuals on specific day service plan objectives.
  2. Responsible for data collection of goals of each individual.
  3. Responsible for daily documentation of medical data or target behaviors.
  4. Participate in all general programmatic duties (arrivals, breaks, lunches, departures).
  5. Assist with the upkeep and maintenance of the program, follow the cleaning schedule, and report any maintenance issues.
  6. Protect each individual's rights and maintain confidentiality of any information relative to people.
  7. Complete any administrative duties as assigned.
  8. Participate in all required meetings.
  9. Maintain all appropriate certifications including FA/CPR and PABC.
  10. Assist all individuals in entering and exiting the vehicle and ensure all individuals have properly secured seatbelts.
  11. Interact with patience and sensitivity in all contact with individuals, family members, staff, and others.
  12. Operate the vehicle at all times within all federal, state, and local laws.
  13. Have good knowledge of routes and locations of all houses, day facilities, and emergency locations.
  14. Maintain and carry emergency fact sheets, daily attendance, and trip route sheets.
  15. Complete a quick vehicle safety checklist before beginning your assigned route and report any issues to your supervisor immediately.
  16. Immediately notify the supervisor of any variance in route time exceeding 15 minutes.
  17. Maintain all required certifications.
  18. Other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience:
  1. A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
  2. Must be 20.5 years of age or older, with at least 3 years of driving experience.
  3. Must have a valid MA driver's license and a good driving record history with no more than 2 moving violations in the last three years.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
  1. Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  2. Ability to interact with patience and sensitivity in all contact with individuals, residential staff, parents, and facility staff.
Required Background Check:
  1. Requires acceptable annual CORI according to Bridgewell policy and a fingerprint-based national criminal background check per DDS regulations and policies.
  2. A Drug Screen and physical must be conducted as soon as possible after a successful interview; regular employment is contingent upon acceptable results according to Bridgewell policy.
  3. An annual driving record history will be verified and results are subject to MART approval based on regulations and annual MART audits.

  2. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  3. Must be able to drive a 12-passenger van and/or a handicap-accessible van.
  4. Must have a normal range of eyesight with or without corrective lenses.
  5. Must have a normal range of hearing with or without corrective equipment.
  6. Must be able to climb in and out of vehicles.
