Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Classified Platform Engineer to lead a new software team building air-gapped platform services and user interfaces. You will shape architecture, own end-to-end delivery, and drive DevSecOps for accredited environments.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Anduril is seeking a Classified Platform Engineer to serve as the technical lead for our classified software team. You will design and build the platform services and user-facing applications that make multi-level classified computing possible: a virtual desktop and application broker, a policy-enforcing storage gateway, and the administrative interfaces for our access control platform. You will own them end to end, from architecture through the DevSecOps pipeline that delivers them into accredited, fully air-gapped environments, working alongside Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, and Infrastructure Engineering.
This is a hands-on role with real technical authority. You will be the first dedicated software engineer on this team, which means you set the architecture, choose the patterns, and establish the engineering standards the rest of the team builds to. As the team grows you will lead it technically, and there is a clear path into formal technical leadership of the software function for someone who wants it.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Act as technical lead for the classified software and platform team: own the architecture of the application portfolio, set the standards the team builds to, and make the tradeoff calls.
• Design and build production web applications in React and Go that operate fully air-gapped inside accredited classified environments.
• Develop and work with S3 storage APIs and policies.
• Build the administrative and operator interfaces for our access control platform, and design the relational and distributed datastores behind authorization decisions, audit records, and application state.
• Own the DevSecOps path to production: containerize and deploy to Kubernetes through GitOps CI/CD pipelines that scan, sign, and produce the evidence our accreditations require.
• Decompose multi-quarter programs into well-scoped work other engineers can deliver independently, and grow the engineers who join the team through design review, code review, and pairing.
• Partner with Cybersecurity, Program Management, and business line stakeholders to capture requirements and translate them into a technical plan delivered on time and on budget.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Professional experience building and shipping production web applications with React, or a comparable modern front-end framework, and TypeScript, including interfaces for complex domains where operator workflow matters.
• Professional experience developing backend services in Go.
• Experience designing and working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or CockroachDB, including schema design, migrations, and query performance.
• Experience with containerization and container orchestration (Podman or Docker, and Kubernetes), and with GitOps and Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines in an Agile development process.
• Knowledge and experience with Linux Operating Systems (OS) such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Rocky Linux, or Ubuntu.
• Experience leading technical work: owning a system's architecture, reviewing the designs and code of others, setting direction for a small team, and communicating clearly in design documents, tradeoff analyses, and decision records a peer can pick up and act on.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a US Top Secret Clearance with customer's approval. May be required to obtain and maintain a DoD 8140/8570 qualifying certification.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with virtual desktop infrastructure or application and desktop brokering (e.g. Citrix, Omnissa/VMware Horizon, Leostream, Apache Guacamole, Kasm), and with virtualization orchestrated through Kubernetes such as KubeVirt.
• Experience implementing authorization systems (RBAC, ABAC, or relationship-based models), integrating applications against an external policy decision point, and Policy as Code (PaC) tools such as OPA, Oso, Cedar, or Kyverno.
• Experience with S3-compatible object storage APIs, POSIX filesystem semantics, or FUSE.
• Experience building software for air-gapped or network-isolated environments, including dependency vendoring and offline builds.
• Experience with DevSecOps supply-chain security practices including SBOM generation, artifact signing, and provenance attestation.
• Proficiency with core security concepts including encryption, authentication, identity and access management, and Zero-Trust Architecture (ZTA), plus an understanding of NIST SP 800-53 controls and their technical implementation.
• Experience with observability tooling: structured logging, metrics, and distributed tracing.
• Experience as a tech lead or founding engineer on a product team, including establishing engineering practices from scratch, onboarding new engineers, and interviewing and hiring software engineers.

US Salary Range

$166,000 — $220,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
