CoreCivic is seeking a Classification Officer in Oklahoma to oversee housing and welfare of inmates/residents within a secure facility. You will supervise staff, coordinate movement, and communicate with administration and the public.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in social/behavioral science, 3+ years’ related experience, and a valid driver’s license. CoreCivic is a Drug-Free Workplace & EOE.

The Classification Officer is responsible for aspects of inmate/resident incarceration related to housing and welfare.

• Supervise subordinate staff in the performance of their duties and evaluate as prescribed by the facility and corporate policy.

• Communicate effectively and coherently to administration, staff, inmates/residents, visitors and the general public, particularly in situations requiring tact, diplomacy, understanding, fairness, firmness and good judgment. This includes giving information, instructions and directions, mediating disputes, advising of rights and processes and providing reliable testimony, in court and other formal settings.

• Perform searches of people and objects capable of concealing contraband which will involve detecting and identifying objects and detaining people.

• Escort inmates/residents or coordinate the movement of inmates/residents to and from different areas.

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in social or behavioral science or a closely related field.

• Three years of work experience with inmates/residents, social work, inmate/resident classification, probation and parole, inmate/resident rehabilitation or penology preferred. Additional related education or work experience may be substituted on an equivalent time basis.

• A valid driver's license is required.

• Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 20 years of age.
