Qualifications

• Proven experience as a teacher or in a similar role.
• Ability to communicate clearly with students, parents and administrators.
• Confidence speaking in front of groups and enforcing classroom rules.
• Creativity to build engaging lessons and inspire students to learn.
• Physical and mental stamina to keep pace with energetic grade school students.
• Detail-oriented and able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Degree in Education; master's degree a plus.
• Classical Christian education experience a plus.
• Teaching license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans and set high expectations for students
• Assign and grade classwork, homework and tests
• Establish and enforce classroom rules and standards
• Take attendance and keep daily notes
• Help students prepare for standardized testing
• Supervise students during recess, lunch and other activities
• Keep parents informed of their child's progress through a class newsletter, updates and parent-teacher conferences
• Maintain a clean and sanitary classroom
• Help plan and lead fall and spring field trips
• Work with staff to fill gaps and follow school policies
• Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development
• Learn and apply classical Christian teaching methods
