Rudolf Steiner School, located on Manhattan's Upper East Side, is seeking a Waldorf-trained Class Teacher for the 2027-28 school year. Strong candidates will have Lower School teaching experience and a commitment to Waldorf pedagogy.

As a member of the Lower School faculty, you will collaborate daily with colleagues, design developmentally appropriate lessons, and participate in regular meetings to support student growth and community life.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Waldorf Teacher Certification from an AWSNA-recognized institute or equivalent experience required (or a clear path to certification).
  • 3–5 years of Waldorf teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of and enthusiasm for Waldorf education.
  • Commitment to professional growth and collaborative work.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and support for diverse learners.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons rooted in the oral tradition.
  • Create rhythmic, engaging instruction that integrates academic, artistic, and social-emotional learning.
  • Differentiate instruction to support individual student needs using inclusive and culturally responsive practices.
  • Maintain a respectful, organized classroom environment aligned with Waldorf principles.
  • Collaborate with subject teachers and the Learning Support Team.
  • Assess student progress and complete reports, block plans, and documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and lead class meetings and conferences.
  • Prepare classroom materials, maintain displays, and support school events and festivals.

Job description

Rudolf Steiner School seeks a Class Teacher for the 2027-28 school year. Strong candidates will be a trained Waldorf Class Teacher with Lower School teaching experience. As members of the Lower School faculty, teachers have the opportunity to work collaboratively with one another on a daily basis and in regular departmental, area, and all-school meetings.

Key Responsibilities
