Job summary

Clean Harbors in Greenwood, IN seeks a Territory Class B Driver (Utility Driver) to cover routes across the District and support others as needed. You will operate Class B tanker and box trucks, traveling up to three weeks out of the month with one week home, and attend a two-week academy out of state for onboarding.

Qualifications

• Valid Class B CDL is required and Hazmat and Tanker endorsements must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to travel up to 3 weeks away from home is required.
• Successful completion of a background check, drug test, and physical (per position) is required.
• As per OSHA respirator standards, facial hair restrictions apply for positions requiring respirators.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class B trucks (tanker and box) and assist field laborers as part of a team.
• Provide primary route coverage for the assigned District and support other Districts as needed.
• Load and unload trucks and ensure safe, compliant operation and placarding per DOT rules.
• Serve as backup driver to cover routes regionally.
• Attend in-person Clean Harbors Academy out of state during onboarding (airfare, hotel, per diem provided).
• Maintain daily logs, time sheets, and reports; ensure customer satisfaction at service time.

Job description

Clean Harbors is seeking a Territory Class B Driver (Utility Driver) to provide primary route coverage for the assigned District as well as other Districts as needed to support vacation, sick time, and turnover. This position will operate Class B Tanker Truck, Box Trucks and or Lube Delivery Truck and travel up to 3 weeks out of the month on average with 1 week home.

This position requires attendance with an in-person Clean Harbors Academy out of State. as part of your onboarding and training. Attendance is mandatory. Clean Harbors provides airfare, hotel accommodations, transportation to/from the Academy, breakfast and lunch, and a $38 nightly per diem. Academy training is paid at your normal rate. Candidates must be able to travel and attend the full 2 week Academy to be eligible for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner.
• Operate commercial trucks and assist field laborers when needed (team atmosphere where everyone helps).
• Operate a variety of Class B trucks.
• Loading and unloading of trucks.
• Will serve as backup driver to cover routes when needed across the region.
• Ensure customer satisfaction at time of service.
• Proper placarding of vehicles to meet Company and DOT requirements/regulations.
• Maintain daily logs, time sheets, and various reports.
• Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rules.
• Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirements.
• Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures.
• Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• By position, ability to be on call for emergency response on rotating basis every other week.
• By position, site-remediation, equipment decontamination, and the handling of hazardous materials.

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Class B CDL.
• Obtain Hazmat and Tanker endorsement within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to use various mobile devices.
• Ability to travel extensively, up to 3 weeks away from home.
• Perform physical functions per job requirements.
• Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, by position.
• Per OSHA's Respiratory Protection standard, 29 CFR 1910.34, employees in positions requiring respirators are required to meet facial hair standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Commercial driver experience.
• Hazmat and Tanker endorsement.
• Previous Hazmat experience.
• Ability to operate a manual transmission.
• Previous manual labor experience.
