Job summary

Interstate Waste Services is hiring CDL B rear-load truck drivers based out of Ewing, NJ. The role offers a starting pay of $27.90 per hour with overtime, full benefits, and paid time off. Expect a year-round position with a 6:00am start and weekend availability as needed.

Drivers operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks, perform pre/post inspections, and may back into tight spaces. A valid CDL and a good safety record are required.

Qualifications

• 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid Class A or B CDL.
• Airbrake Endorsement.
• 1 year CDL driving experience in the last 7 years.
• Great safety record and clean MVR.
• Experience as a Driver or Helper for a Refuge Company is highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA and applicable traffic regulations.
• Ability to speak and read English to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic and signals, respond to official questions and make legible entries.
• Read and understand a map.
• Meet physical and safety requirements of the position.
• Willing and able to work required hours under DOT regulations; may include weekend, night, or holiday work.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for pickup service of waste or recyclables.
• Transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities and make multiple trips per shift.
• Work with both manual and automatic trucks.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds, moving up to 100 pounds, and mounting/dismounting the truck multiple times per route.
• Navigate congested communities and back into tight areas; perform back-up maneuvers.
• Complete driver pre- and post-inspections; ensure truck compliance with safety standards, OSHA, and DOT regulations.

Additional Job Requirements

• Routes may require Drivers to navigate through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
• Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential to successfully perform this job.
• Our drivers routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
• Driver pre and post inspections required. Drivers are responsible for ensuring their truck is in compliance with IWS’s safety standards as well as OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws, prior to and while operating the vehicle.
