Job summary

XPO is hiring a Class B Local Truck Driver in Renton, WA. You will operate straight trucks, load/unload freight, and provide top-tier customer service, with opportunities to generate sales leads.

The role features a day shift, comprehensive benefits from day one, and a path to growth within a large transportation network. Applicants must meet CDL, safety, and DOT requirements and be able to work a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• Class B CDL without air brake restriction.
• Safe driving record; no DOT issue history.
• Must pass DOT drug test and post-hire pre-employment checks.
• Must pass company DOT physical and essential functions test.
• Flexible schedule with 12–14 hour days possible.
• Federal Medical Certificate and Non-Exempt Interstate status required or obtainable.
• Hazardous materials and tank endorsements either possessed or obtainable within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a straight truck (26,001 lb GVWR or more).
• Provide excellent customer service, including sales leads.

What you’ll need to succeed as a Class B Driver at XPO

• To be 21 years of age or older
• Class B CDL without air brake restriction
• Safe driving record and history
• To pass a DOT drug test and have no prior positive tests or refusals
• To pass a company-paid DOT physical and pre-hire test (physical essential functions)
• Availability to work a flexible schedule that’s up to 12-14 hours in a day, including day, night and weekend shifts
• Have, or the ability to obtain, a Federal Medical Certificate and self-certify as Non-Exempt Interstate
• Currently possess or be willing to obtain hazardous materials and tank endorsements within 90 days of employment

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Safely operate a straight truck (GVWR or GVW of 26,001 lb. or more)
• Provide excellent service to customers, including generating sales leads
• Load and unload freight
• Operate a straight truck based on State specific regulations for intrastate commercial straight trucks.
• Operate a forklift and pallet jack to load and unload freight

Class B Drivers are required to:

• Lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 75 lbs. occasionally)
• Safely climb in/out of a straight truck/box truck
• Sit for extended periods of time in a straight truck/box truck and/or forklift; safely operate heavy equipment and a forklift
• Walk and stand for extended periods of time on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery (including working outdoors in inclement weather)
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel
• Operate a straight truck for up to 11 consecutive hours, in all types of weather, while safely transporting hazardous and non-hazardous materials

Pursuant to U.S. Department of Labor requirements, the worker must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals in English, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and record.
