XPO Logistics, Inc. in Maspeth, NY is hiring a Class B Local Truck Driver. Responsibilities include safely operating a straight truck, loading/unloading freight, and providing excellent customer service with sales leads. Flexible day/night/weekend shifts and company benefits are offered.

Pay ranges from $30.91 to $34.40 per hour with full health, life and disability insurance, PTO, holidays, and 401(k) match. This is a Motor Carrier Act Exempt position in the LTL business unit.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Class B CDL without air brake restriction.
• Safe driving record and history.
• Pass a DOT drug test with no prior positive tests or refusals.
• Pass a company-paid DOT physical and pre-hire test.
• Flexible schedule up to 12–14 hours per day, including day, night and weekend shifts.
• Have or obtain a Federal Medical Certificate and self-certify as Non-Exempt Interstate.
• Current possession or ability to obtain hazmat and tank endorsements within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a straight truck (GVWR or GVW of 26,001 lb. or more).
• Provide excellent service to customers, including generating sales leads.
• Load and unload freight.
• Operate a straight truck according to state regulations for intrastate operations.
• Operate a forklift and pallet jack to load and unload freight.

What you’ll need to succeed as a Class B Driver at XPO

• To be 21 years of age or older
• Class B CDL without air brake restriction
• Safe driving record and history

• Availability to work a flexible schedule that’s up to 12-14 hours in a day, including day, night and weekend shifts

• Currently possess or be willing to obtain hazardous materials and tank endorsements within 90 days of employment

Pay, benefits, and more:

• Expected pay range: $30.91 to $34.40 per hour. Pay is on an annual step progression. Actual compensation may vary due to factors such as experience and skill set.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Safely operate a straight truck (GVWR or GVW of 26,001 lb. or more)
• Provide excellent service to customers, including generating sales leads
• Load and unload freight
• Operate a straight truck based on State specific regulations for intrastate commercial straight trucks.
• Operate a forklift and pallet jack to load and unload freight

Class B Drivers are required to:

• Lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 75 lbs. occasionally)
• Safely climb in/out of a straight truck/box truck
• Sit for extended periods of time in a straight truck/box truck and/or forklift; safely operate heavy equipment and a forklift
• Walk and stand for extended periods of time on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery (including working outdoors in inclement weather)
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel
• Operate a straight truck for up to 11 consecutive hours, in all types of weather, while safely transporting hazardous and non-hazardous materials

Pursuant to U.S. Department of Labor requirements, the worker must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals in English, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and record.
