Job summary

Sims Metal (Sims) is seeking a Class A Truck Driver to operate within our Morrisville, PA location. The role emphasizes safety, accurate routing, and timely delivery of loads.

You will use a tablet-based ELD system and perform daily vehicle inspections as part of a broader logistics team. Candidates should have 2+ years of tractor trailer experience, be at least 21, hold a valid Class A license, and pass DOT physical/drug tests.

Qualifications

• Must communicate in English (oral and written).
• Must pass DOT physical and drug testing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to company’s safety plan.
• Review of daily schedule to determine supply needs accuracy of routing.
• Ensure daily supplies are on vehicle before leaving dock to proceed with daily schedule.
• Communicate with logistic department at the end of each stop on scheduled route.
• Use assigned tablet for our Electronic logging device system.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections through Encompass app on assigned tablet.
• Perform vehicle fueling and turn in corresponding receipts to logistics manager.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Must possess a Valid Class A Driver License
• Position requires minimum 21 years of age.
• 2+ years of tractor trailer or roll-off truck driving experience.
• Must possess a current clear motor vehicle report.
• Prefer 2+ years’ experience packaging and preparing loose freight for transport.
• Must communicate in English (oral and written).
• Must pass DOT physical and drug testing requirements.

The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
