Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Southwestern Michigan seeks a Full Time Class A Truck Driver to transport product between stores, warehouses, and a plant. The driver will regularly operate a tractor-trailer while upholding the organization’s values of Success, Collaboration, People and Productivity.

Requirements include a Class A CDL, ability to read/write English, basic math, and the capacity to lift up to 75 pounds.

Qualifications

• Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver License.
• Ability to read, write and express ideas in English.
• Ability to perform mathematical functions as needed: addition, subtraction, multiplication.
• Ability to solve problems quickly.

Responsibilities

• Make pick-ups and deliveries to stores in a safe and timely manner
• Operate vehicle according to various municipal requires, e.g. speed limits, seasonal loads
• Ensure that all loads are secure and all product is delivered without damage
• Switch trailers; load and unload trucks safely
• Inspect truck daily and maintain daily inspection record that is accurate and legible; report any need for repairs promptly and in writing
• Perform other duties assigned by Commercial Services Supervisor or designee

It is the responsibility of the Class A truck driver to deliver product between stores, warehouses and plant. The Class A truck driver will regularly drive a tractor trailer but will drive other vehicles as needed. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver License

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly, occasionally lift up to 75 pounds; frequent reaching, bending, twisting, standing, stooping; ability to see with corrective lenses, ability to hear; sitting and operating vehicle for extended periods

Other

Must maintain qualifications for Class A DOT license, including meeting DOT physical requirements and random drug screens

Must be able to work five days per week, eight hours per day, occasional weekend call-in

Regularly lift 50 lbs; stand, stoop, bend, reach 5-7 hours per day

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and theft-related background check

Must be approved to drive under the Agency’s Commercial Vehicle insurance policy
