About the Role:

The Class A Transmission Lineman plays a critical role in the construction, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage electrical transmission lines across the United States. This position ensures the reliable delivery of electricity by working on transmission systems that operate at voltages typically above 69 kV. The lineman will be responsible for climbing poles and towers, operating specialized equipment, and adhering to strict safety protocols to prevent outages and hazards. This role demands physical endurance, technical expertise, and the ability to work in various weather conditions and challenging environments. Ultimately, the Class A Transmission Lineman contributes to the stability and efficiency of the electrical grid, supporting communities and industries nationwide.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Completion of an accredited lineman apprenticeship program or equivalent experience in transmission line work.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely climb poles and towers and work at heights.
  • Strong understanding of electrical transmission systems, safety protocols, and OSHA regulations.
  • Physical ability to perform strenuous manual labor, including lifting heavy equipment and working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 10 or 30-hour safety training.
  • Experience with live-line maintenance and hot-stick techniques.
  • Familiarity with transmission line construction standards such as NESC (National Electrical Safety Code).
  • Proficiency in using GPS and other digital tools for mapping and documentation.
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment or with a major utility company.
