Job summary

Unitex Asphalt Services is seeking a dependable Class A Lowboy Driver to safely transport heavy construction equipment to job sites. You will operate a lowboy truck, secure oversized loads, and ensure compliance with DOT rules across designated areas.

The role requires 2–3 years of lowboy experience, strong load securement knowledge, and the ability to handle permits and escorts. This position emphasizes safety, punctuality, and independent time management.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with clean driving record.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience driving lowboy trailers or hauling heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of DOT/FMSCA/state transportation regulations.
• Experience with load securement, oversized loads, and permit requirements.
• Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic truck maintenance.
• Strong attention to detail, safety, and responsibility.
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate a lowboy truck and trailer to transport heavy equipment to job sites.
• Inspect vehicles and loads for DOT and company safety compliance.
• Load and unload equipment using ramps, winches, or hydraulics.
• Secure loads with chains, binders, and tie-downs.
• Maintain accurate logs and trip documentation per FMCSA/DOT rules.
• Communicate with dispatch, foremen, and project managers on schedules and needs.
• Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on truck and trailer.
• Follow procedures for overweight/oversized loads, permits, and escorts.
• Promote and adhere to a safety-first culture on and off the road.
