Job summary

Denali in Dubuque, IA is hiring a Lead Support Driver to fill in for route drivers, traveling to various locations as needed. Some trips may last up to two weeks, with all travel expenses covered when approved.

You will load, haul, and deliver food waste on intra- and interstate routes, operate DOT-compliant vehicles, perform pre/post-trip inspections, and maintain logs and paperwork. This safety-sensitive role requires staying alert, meeting all regulatory rules, and supporting the team on

Qualifications

  • Class A CDL License required.
  • Clean MVR and PSP.
  • Must be 23+ with 2 years of full-time tractor-trailer experience OR 21+ with 1 year if a Truck Driving School graduate or 1 year of Military experience.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public and understand reports.

Responsibilities

  • Load, haul, and deliver food waste on intra- and interstate routes with multiple stops.
  • Operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles per DOT requirements and laws.
  • Operate manual or electric pallet jack as needed.
  • Use a pressure washer to rinse bins and containers and keep client locations clean.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections.
  • Maintain basic truck equipment and cleanliness.
  • Maintain electronic driver logs and required paperwork.
  • Submit documentation to relevant party and report accidents/injuries to safety manager.
  • Travel and stay out overnight up to 2 weeks or more as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading, hauling, and delivering food waste on intra- and interstate routes withmultiple stops ranging from 15 to 25 per day by routing determinedby the Company.
  • Operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles per DOT requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws.
  • Operate manual or electric pallet jack as needed.
  • Utilize a pressure washer to rinse bins and containers, ensuring all client locations are clean and free of debris.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections.
  • Typical use of hand tools for basic repairs of company bins and equipment.
  • Maintenance of basic truck equipment and ensuring the overall cleanliness of the equipment.
  • Utilize the electronic logging system for DOT driver logs and as otherwise required.
  • Maintain paperwork (contamination and service tickets, truck maintenance, etc.) and submit all documentation to the appropriate party.
  • Report all accidents and injuries immediately to the safety manager.
  • Ability to travel and stay out overnight up to 2 weeks or more, depending on operational needs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Class A CDL License (self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate driver with the state of issuance)
  • Clean MVR and PSP
  • Must be at least 23 years of age and have a minimum of 2 years of full-time verifiable tractor-trailer experience OR 21 years of age with 1 year of tractor-trailer experience IF a graduate from a Truck Driving School or 1 year of Military experience.
  • Stable work history
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must pass a pre-employment Background checkAll drivers must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the public, understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 Years Class A Driving Experience with no accidents or incidents
  • Time management and the ability to maintain route consistency.
  • Communication and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of hydraulics is a plus.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
  • Regularly lifting, pulling, and/or pushing up to 70 pounds, bending, stooping, twisting, shoveling, or reaching overhead.
  • Able to regularly pull/roll up to 300 pounds when working with totes.
  • Ability to handle unpleasant odors from food waste/farms.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
