Job summary

Staffmark places a Class A Flatbed Local Driver in Delaware, OH, with home-daily routes and a starting pay of $26.00–$34.00 per hour. You will safely operate flatbed equipment, secure loads, and deliver to residential and commercial sites while maintaining DOT compliance.

Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, unloading with a rear-mounted forklift, and excellent customer service. Local shifts may include some Saturdays; benefits and weekly pay are available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Class A flatbed driving experience preferred.
• At least 1 year of forklift or rear-mounted forklift operating experience required.
• Experience hauling lumber, building materials, oversized loads, or construction materials is a plus.
• Strong understanding of load securement using straps and flatbed safety procedures.
• Ability to maintain a clear MVR and meet all DOT requirements.

• Monday-Friday schedule with start times between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM.
• Average 10-hour workdays with occasional voluntary Saturday work.

What You'll Do

• Safely operate a Class A flatbed truck to transport lumber bundles, building materials, and trusses.
• Secure loads using proper strapping methods prior to transport.
• Deliver materials to residential and commercial construction job sites.
• Operate a rear-mounted forklift to unload lumber at customer locations.
• Transport and deliver oversized truss loads, including permitted and escorted loads when required.
• Operate roll-off and tilt flatbed trailers for truss deliveries.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain all required DOT documentation.
• Ensure safe, timely, and professional deliveries while providing excellent customer service.
• Follow all company safety policies and DOT regulations.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of Class A flatbed driving experience preferred.
• At least 1 year of forklift or rear-mounted forklift operating experience required.
• Experience hauling lumber, building materials, oversized loads, or construction materials is a plus.
• Strong understanding of load securement using straps and flatbed safety procedures.
• Ability to maintain a clear MVR and meet all DOT requirements.
• Safe driving history with knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance standards.

Driving Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL required.
• Automatic transmission restriction accepted.
• Current DOT Medical Card required.
• FMCSA Clearinghouse registration required.
• Must be at least 22 years old.
• Local routes with home-daily schedule.
• Ability to operate Class A flatbed equipment and rear-mounted forklifts.
• Willingness to operate a box truck occasionally when needed.

What You Will Do

As a Class A Flatbed Local Driver you will safely operate vehicles to transport goods, materials, or equipment while following established routes, schedules, and safety regulations. You will perform vehicle inspections, maintain required documentation, communicate with dispatch or customers as needed, and help ensure deliveries are completed safely, accurately, and on time while maintaining a professional appearance and commitment to customer service.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while safely operating a vehicle.
• Ability to enter and exit vehicles frequently throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift, move, or secure freight and materials when required by the assignment.
• Ability to perform vehicle inspections and work safely in varying weather and road conditions.

Preferred Experience

• Previous professional driving, delivery, transportation, or logistics experience is preferred.
• Experience operating commercial vehicles, delivery trucks, box trucks, or tractor-trailers is beneficial depending on the assignment.
• Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs), GPS navigation, routing software, or transportation documentation is considered an asset.
