Job summary

VINCI CONSTRUCTION USA is seeking a Class A Dump Trailer Driver to transport debris between transfer facilities and landfills in New York. The role requires a valid Class A CDL, adherence to DOT regulations, and the ability to operate 75-yard transfer trailers with daily safety checks.

The position entails long shifts of 10–12 hours, including nights and weekends, with spotting hazards and maintaining vehicle safety.

Responsibilities

  • Drive 75-yard transfer trailer trucks to transport materials to/from the Transfer Station and the Landfill.
  • Perform daily safety checks of fluid levels and inspect for leaks and vehicle damage before operation.
  • Maintain the vehicle in proper and safe working order daily.
  • Climb in and out of cab safely and operate and load efficiently.
  • Notify supervisor if the vehicle requires repair.
  • Other duties as assigned.

General Description

A Class A Dump Trailer Driver is an hourly‑rated skilled craft position that transports debris from the Transfer Station to the Landfill as needed. This role involves a variety of tasks and requires flexibility to manage workflow demands.

Key Duties
  • Must have a valid Class “A” CDL with a good driving record within MVR policy guidelines.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations.
  • Drive 75‑yard transfer trailer trucks to transport materials to/from the Transfer Station and the Landfill.
  • Knowledge of chaining and binding equipment being transported (DOT).
  • Perform daily safety checks of fluid levels on oil, water, fuel and inspect for leaks and vehicle damage before operation.
  • Maintain the vehicle in proper and safe working order daily.
  • Notify supervisor if the vehicle requires repair.
  • Operate and load efficiently.
  • Climb in and out of cab safely.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements

Education and Experience

This position typically is not an entry‑level job as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Class A Dump Trailer Driver.

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must understand work directions and communicate effectively with supervisors and fellow employees.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years or more of driving‑related experience required.
Physical Demands
  • Routine shifts of 10–12 hours per day, including nights and weekends.
  • Required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.
  • Must climb into and out of the cab safely.
  • Lift, carry, push, and/or pull at least 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Continuous mental attention required to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Potential exposure to dust, dirt, grease, and noise; must wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and hard hat where applicable.
  • Walk or stand on various terrain (sand, gravel, pavement, dirt) for short periods.
  • Must communicate and understand orally and in written/typed form.
Work Environment
  • Work performed indoors (office) and outdoors (construction, landfill, asphalt sites).
  • Exposure to noise, grease, and dust; required to use engineering controls or personal protective equipment to meet OSHA limits.
  • Regular proximity to heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • Exposure to substances such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, and diesel fuel; exposure levels do not exceed OSHA permissible limits.
