Job summary

Hubbard Construction Company in Florida is seeking a Class A Dump Trailer Driver to transport debris between Transfer Station and Landfill on an hourly basis. The role requires a clean driving record, knowledge of DOT regulations, and the ability to safely operate and secure loads while performing routine vehicle maintenance.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of driving experience, a high school diploma or GED, and can work 10–12 hour shifts including nights and weekends.

  • Ability to operate and load trailers and perform basic maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Drive 75-yard transfer trailer trucks between Transfer Station and Landfill.
  • Perform daily safety checks and notify supervisor of needed repairs.
  • Ensure proper chaining/binding of transported equipment and secure loads.
  • Work 10–12 hour shifts, including nights and weekends.

General Description

A Class A Dump Trailer Driver is an hourly-rated skilled craft position that transports debris from the Transfer Station to the Landfill as needed. A Class A Dump Trailer Driver typically performs a wide variety of tasks, transferring from one task to another as the workflow dictates.

Key Duties
  • Must have a valid Class "A" CDL with a good driving record within MVR policy guidelines.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations.
  • Drives 75-yard transfer trailer trucks to transport materials to/from the Transfer Station and the Landfill.
  • Knowledge with chaining and binding of equipment being transported. (DOT)
  • Perform daily safety checks of fluid levels on oil, water, fuel and inspections for leaks and damage to vehicle before operation.
  • Responsible for daily maintenance of vehicle to remain in proper and safe working order.
  • Responsible for notifying supervisor if vehicle needs to be repaired.
  • Ability to operate and load efficiently.
  • Driver must be able to climb in and out of cab safely.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

This position typically is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Class A Dump Trailer Driver.

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
  • Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees.
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years or more of driving related experience is required for this position.
Physical Demands
  • Routinely work a shift of 10-12 hours/per day, including nights and weekends.
  • Required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.
  • The Driver must be able to climb into and out of the cab safely.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull, periodically at least 25 pounds; occasionally, up to 50lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Continuous mental attention required to complete tasks in an efficient manner.
  • Potential exposure to dust, dirt grease and noise; ability to wear personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hardhat, where applicable.
  • Periodically walk and/or stand, for short periods of time, on various terrain, including sand, gravel, pavement and dirt.
  • Must be able to communicate and understand both orally and written/typed.
Work Environment
  • Work is performed indoors (office setting) and outdoors (construction, landfill, and asphalt sites)
  • Work environment may periodically expose individual to various levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a plant; either engineering controls and/or personal protective equipment is required, to ensure exposure limit does not exceed OSHA specifications.
  • Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • Work may involve exposure to a variety of substances such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline and diesel fuel; however, no levels above OSHA Permissible exposure limit.
