Position Overview
As a Fleet Driver at CarMax, you’ll transport vehicles between stores, auctions, vendors, and logistics hubs, ensuring timely delivery and vehicle condition while representing the company’s commitment to safety and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Safely load, secure, transport, and offload CarMax vehicles between locations.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery to maintain inventory flow and customer satisfaction.
- Operate equipment with focus on safety, efficiency, and cleanliness, maintaining a well‑kept truck and trailer.
- Conduct thorough pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections in compliance with DOT and CarMax standards.
- Maintain accurate DOT logs and documentation.
- Represent CarMax professionally when interacting with vendors, store associates, and the public.
- Follow all company and federal safety regulations to ensure compliance and minimize risk.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) issued by the state.
- 2+ years of Class A CDL driving experience (Military heavy/medium tactical vehicle experience considered).
- Clean driving record with no serious violations in the past three years; meet CarMax’s Driver Safety Evaluation criteria.
- Ability to meet DOT & FMCSA qualification requirements.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and operate winches during loading.
- Proficiency in operating a 10‑speed transmission and willingness to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
- Current CarMax associates may apply if they have: a valid Class A CDL, 2+ years of CMV driving experience at CarMax (non‑Class A CMV experience acceptable), and no preventable safety incidents in the past two years.
Salary
Hourly rate: $26.20 – $44.60 per hour.

- Paid sick leave (up to 48 hours per year for full‑time hourly or commission/incentive eligible associates).
- Paid vacation (80–200 hours per year after a 90‑day waiting period, based on continuous service).
- Pay for each of six scheduled holidays and floating holiday.
- Holiday premium pay if working on a scheduled holiday.
- Paid time away for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc., subject to manager approval (full‑time salaried associates).
