Job summary

Interstate Waste Services, Inc. in Lyndhurst, NJ is hiring Class A drivers for a full-time role at $31.50 per hour. Early start at 7am with Monday–Friday shifts and Saturdays half-days.

Operate front/side/rear-loading trucks, transport waste/recyclables to disposal or recycling facilities, and perform pre/post inspections while upholding safety standards.

Requirements include valid CDL A/B, airbrake endorsement, a clean MVR, and at least one year of CDL driving within the last seven years.

Qualifications

• Must have 1 year CDL driving experience in the last 7 years.
• Valid Class A or B CDL.
• Airbrake Endorsement.
• Great Safety Record and Clean MVR.
• Experience as a Driver or Helper for a Refuge Company is Highly Preferred.
• Working Knowledge of DOT, OSHA & Applicable Traffic Regulations.
• Ability to Speak & Read English to Converse with the General Public, understand Highway Traffic & Signals, Respond to Official Questions & Make Legible Entries on Reports & Records.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
• Transport the material to a disposal, transfer or recycling facility and may make one or more trips during the shift.
• We deploy both manual and automatic trucks.
• Driver may need to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 100 pounds, and mount/dismount the truck multiple times each route.

• Meet Physical & Safety Requirements of the Position.

Additional Job Requirements:

• Routes may require Drivers to navigate through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
• Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential to successfully perform this job.
• Our drivers routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
• Driver pre and post inspections required. Drivers are responsible for ensuring their truck is in compliance with IWS’s safety standards as well as OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws, prior to and while operating the vehicle.
