Job summary

Clayton Homes is seeking a Class A CDL Driver – Toter Driver to transport oversized and overweight loads to retail locations. You will maintain proper paperwork, operate safely, and ensure compliance with DOT requirements while coordinating permits with escorts.

The role emphasizes professional appearance, accurate documentation, and end-of-shift duties, with benefits supporting team members and families.

Qualifications

• Be medically certified as physically qualified to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle and maintain a valid DOT medical card.
• Meet DOT‑required vision and hearing standards, including color recognition, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Be able to speak, read, and write English as required for safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Safe and effective transportation of the oversized load within the region.
• Safe operation of all equipment including daily maintenance checks and electronic driver logs.
• Operating and maintaining all equipment to meet compliance standards set by the DOT.
• Partner with Driver Supervisors and Pilot/Escort Drivers to coordinate daily permits and load selection scheduled for delivery.
• Coordinate pickup of the scheduled oversized load.
• Coordinate delivery and placement of the oversized load in the appointed retail location.
• Provide route information and best practices to the oversized load team.
• Returns to the terminal with completed delivery paperwork in a timely manner.
