Job summary

Darling Ingredients is seeking a Route Driver to operate a grease vacuum truck, collecting used cooking oil from customer locations and delivering to our Greensboro, NC facility. Work is Monday–Friday with start times around midnight and an average of 40 hours per week with overtime.

Requires a valid Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement, a high school diploma or GED, and a clean driving record. Daily pre-trip/post-trip inspections, route paperwork, and strong customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement and be registered on Clearinghouse FMCSA.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Operate grease vacuum truck and collect used cooking oil; complete route tickets with customer signature.
• Maintain electronic DOT logs; use paper log only if electronic log book is inoperable.
• Provide receipts and obtain signatures; ensure proper paperwork and records.
• Maintain vehicle in clean condition and drive in accordance with all regulations.
• Perform daily pre-trip/post-trip inspections and complete vehicle condition reports.
• Maintain good customer relations through professional service and communication.

Job Summary

A Route Driver is responsible for the operation of a grease vacuum truck to collect used cooking oil from customer locations and returning to our facility in Greensboro NC.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday.
Start Time: 12:00 midnight - 2:00am. Average 40 hours per week with overtime.
Vacuum Truck: 18 - 26 stops per day, average stop 20 minutes.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Pump Grease containers; ensure cleanliness of container and surrounding area; lock and secure container with screen, lid, and lock; notes any damages to container or corral area; properly completes route ticket with customer signature.
• Required to maintain an electronic DOT log, paper log only if electronic log book is inoperable.
• Provides customer with receipt of pick-up and obtains signature of management at location.
• Responsible for company vehicle; maintains vehicle in cleanest possible manner; operates vehicle in accordance with company, federal, state, and local regulations.
• Conducts all safety checks and inspections of vehicle; operates vehicle under state, federal, local regulations and in accordance with company policy and procedures; observes all company safety rules. Daily Pre-Trip/Post-Trip completed as instructed.
• Complete vehicle condition report on a daily basis; operates under all Company safety standards.
• Maintains excellent customer relations by providing quality, professional service at all times.
• Responsible for completing all company required paperwork in accordance with company policies (route tickets, driver vehicle inspection reports, accident reports, mileage reports, service forms, fuel forms, scale forms, etc.) on a daily basis.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must possess a valid Class A CDL, with a Tanker Endorsement.
• Must be registered on https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior route experience within a customer-oriented environment preferred.
• Experience with truck hydraulics a plus.
• Communicates clearly in verbal and written form.
• Highly organized; superior time management skills.
• Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations; adaptable to changing situations.
• Must have a good driving record.
• Ability to work well with internal staff and external customers.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.

Physical Demands

• Constantly required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Frequently required to sit for extended periods, while driving.
• Regularly required reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally push, pull, up to 200 lbs.
• Frequently must push, pull, move or lift up to 75 lbs. repeatedly.
