Job summary

NIS Express in Columbus, MS is hiring a Class A CDL Driver – Trainee to start behind the wheel with a paycheck from day one. You will train with a dedicated trainer for 3–5 weeks, run real miles on real routes, and go solo only when ready.

Expect to operate a Class A tractor-trailer, maintain DOT logs and inspections, and communicate with dispatch and customers throughout training and on the job. Benefits include bonuses, life insurance, 401(k) with match, holidays, PTO, and rider programs.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL license.
• 21 years of age or older.
• 120 or more hours completed at an accredited CDL school.
• Must pass DOT physical and pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

THE POSITION

• Class A tractor-trailer operation, fully DOT compliant
• No-touch dry van freight – approximately 70% drop and hook
• Consistent delivery schedules with strong on-time performance expectations
• Accurate ELD logs, DVIRs and trip documentation maintained daily
• Thorough pre and post-trip vehicle inspections every shift
• Professional communication with dispatch and customers at all times

YOUR FIRST WEEKS ON THE JOB

New drivers are placed with a dedicated one-on-one trainer. You run real miles on real routes together for 3 to 5 weeks. You are evaluated throughout and go solo only when you are ready. Your paycheck runs from day one of training – not after.
