Job summary

Birmingham Fasteners in Alabama seeks a reliable truck driver based in Hanceville to transport freight between our Birmingham location and other sites. A Class A CDL is required for this role.

The driver will operate a 24' straight truck (10 ton cap) with a manual transmission, adhering to DOT and company safety rules. Pre-employment testing, background checks, and drug screening are required.

Responsibilities

Job description

Job Summary: This position is based out of Hanceville and will be drivingfreight to/from our Birmingham location – Class A CDL License required.Theemployee in this position will be responsible for transporting freight, on adaily basis, between one or more locations but will return to Hanceville eachday. Must be able to operate truck with a manual transmission. Ability to lift a minimumof 25 pounds is required. Work environment includes company vehicle and warehouse,plant or production areas with periods of continual driving/sitting and occasionalstanding or walking. Theability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing isrequired. Forklift experience is a plus but not required. Must be able to passall DOT and insurance regulations. Pre-employment testing (includingbackground, drug screening and agility testing) will be required post offer.

Job Functions (Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements):

The primary duties consist of (but are not limited to) thefollowing:

• Follow safety rules and work procedures.
• Drives 24' straight truck (cap 10 tons) to transport materials to and from specified destinations by applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads.
• Prepares receipts for load picked up. May maintain truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
• Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
• Position blocks and/or tie rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
• May load and unload truck; inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water; and/or perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
