Job summary

SOUTHERN CHAMPION TRAY LLC in Chattanooga, TN seeks a Class A Buildings Maintenance technician for 1st shift. You will maintain buildings, equipment, and related systems, and collaborate with the maintenance team to keep operations running smoothly.

Applicants bring 3–5 years in facilities maintenance, basic electrical experience, and an HVAC license. This full-time role requires English literacy, basic computer skills, and the ability to lead maintenance tasks while following safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years’ building/facilities maintenance experience.
  • Basic electrical experience preferred.
  • HVAC license required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the buildings, equipment, and related systems; collaborates with maintenance team to complete work efficiently.
  • Designs, fabricates, and creates material lists for projects with minimal instruction.
  • Assists with construction projects using basic plumbing, electrical, masonry, and carpentry skills; inspects and maintains fire extinguishers.
  • Maintains and performs troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems as needed.
  • May perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair on various equipment types including electrical, gas-powered, hydraulic, pneumatic, and forklift machinery.
  • Maintains assigned equipment and tools; notifies supervisor of tools/equipment to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Follows maintenance schedules on all equipment; operates boom lifts, scissor lifts, and forklifts as certified.
  • Assists training of team members; communicates well with colleagues; adheres to PPE requirements.
  • Adapts to Continuous Improvement and adopts new procedures to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Performs work to minimize downtime and maintains a clean work environment per Food Safety and 5S standards.
  • Follows all safety policies and guidelines; identifies unsafe behaviors and conditions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, fabricate, and create material lists for projects with minimal instruction

AUTHORITY: Must have the ability to lead a crew that has been placed with them to execute the demands of the maintenance operation efficiently and to respond to oral instructions from the supervisor and written instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Three to Five years’ building/facilities maintenance experience. Basic electrical experience preferred. HVAC license required. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have basic computer skills and possess ability to utilize software.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
