Erie Insurance is seeking a claims professional to settle first- and third-party automobile and property claims at our Illinois Branch office. The role emphasizes timely, accurate processing, clear communication with policyholders, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1 year related claims handling or customer service experience.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred.
• Pursuit of general insurance education preferred.
• Obtain appropriate state licenses within 45 days (external) / 90 days (internal) of employment.

Responsibilities

• Processes first party automobile, third party liability automobile and property claims within limits of authority.
• Contacts policyholders and claimants, verifies coverage, reserves, and issues payments.
• Establishes contact with all parties involved in the claim.
• Handles inquiries from policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders.
• Prepares correspondence and reviews pending claims regularly.

Position Summary

Under minimal supervision, settles claims within limits of authority.

• The selected candidate will work onsite in our Illinois Branch office.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Processes first party automobile, third party clear liability automobile and low severity property claims within limits of authority. Contacts Policyholders and/or claimants, verifies coverage, sets reserves, sets up and/or issues payment using ERIE’s approved payment methods, and settles claims.
• Establishes contact with all parties involved in the claim in accordance with ERIE’s expectations.
• Handles inquiries from Policyholders, Agents, insurance carriers, claimants and others.
• Prepares correspondence, forms and related materials. Reviews all pending claims/activities on a regular basis.
• Provides support for property claims during periods of heavy volume.

Qualifications

Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and one year of related claims handling, customer service, or clerical experience required; or equivalent educational experience required.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred.

Additional Experience

• Pursuit of general insurance education preferred.

Designations and/or Licenses

• Obtain appropriate licenses as required by state within 45 days of employment in the role for external applicants and 90 days of employment in the role for internal applicants.
