Job summary

EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants is seeking a Claims Advocate to support a diverse client portfolio with expert claims advocacy. The role requires interpreting P&C policies, coordinating with clients, insurers, and internal teams from our Los Angeles or Newport Beach offices, with a 2x weekly in-office requirement.

The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of P&C claims experience, strong analytical and verbal/written communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with reporting Property & Casualty (P&C) claims and interpret policies to determine applicable coverages.
  • Liaise between clients and insurers to ensure timely handling and best outcomes.
  • Resolve coverage issues and negotiate settlements when needed.
  • Review summons and complaints for proper handling and reporting to carriers.
  • Document all claim activity in agency management systems and notify relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor progress of claims and participate in carrier claim reviews.

LOCATION

This role will be located out of our Los Angeles or Newport Beach office, 2x a week in-office requirement.

Summary

To perform this job successfully, the Claims Advocate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This position supports a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple industry verticals and serves as a trusted claims resource to clients, carriers, and internal stakeholders. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist clients with the reporting of Property & Casualty (P&C) claims. This responsibility requires the ability to interpret P&C policies to determine which coverage(s) apply so that all appropriate insurers are notified.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and insurers to ensure that claims are being handled in a timely manner with the best possible outcome for all concerned.
  • Assist clients to resolve coverage issues and to negotiate settlements.
  • Review summons and complaints for proper handling and reporting to appropriate carriers.
  • Respond to inquiries from clients, adjusters, producers, attorneys and claimants, not only as inquires may relate to a claim, but also from the “servicing” standpoint.
  • Set up and maintain claim files; prepare faxes, cover letters and other correspondence as necessary.
  • Document all claim activity and communications within the agency management systems.
  • Notify account managers and producers of any client service, claims, or coverage concerns.
  • Notify Loss Control of any potential safety issues that have resulted in a claim or could give rise to a claim.
  • Monitor progress of claims to satisfactory conclusion.
  • Participate in carrier claim reviews with the client.
  • Support clients across a variety of industry sectors and risk profiles, providing responsive claims advocacy and service.
  • Set priorities and manage workflow to ensure efficient and timely processing of all responsibilities.
  • Work as a team within established timelines and production capabilities. Interact with others in a professional effective, supportive, and productive manner.
  • Maintain cordial and effective relations with clients, carriers, vendors, business partners and members of EPIC’s Southern California Account Management Team.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing information, guidance, and support to help achieve client objectives and company goals.
  • Remain informed of legislative developments, coverage changes, market trends, carrier programs, and emerging technology to continuously enhance knowledge and performance.
  • Local travel may be required on a periodic basis.
  • Knowledge of Property & Casualty coverage forms, claims processes, and industry practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education and/or Experience
  • 3-5 years of Property & Casualty claims experience. Experience may be met through prior work with a broker, insurance carrier, and/or third-party administrator (TPA).
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of people
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid P&C Brokers License

The national average salary for this role is $95,000 to $105,000 in base pay and exclusive of any bonuses or benefits. The base pay offered will be determined based on your experience, skills, training, certifications and education, while also considering internal equity and market data.
