Job summary

Sedgwick is hiring a Claims Adjuster - Workers Compensation for a HYBRID role in Glendale, CA. You will adjudicate mid- to high-level workers compensation claims, determine benefits, and coordinate return-to-work efforts while leveraging Sedgwick's expansive network and client base.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in claims management, California WC knowledge, and the ability to manage complex cases in a collaborative, flexible environment with strong client partnerships.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of claims management experience or equivalent
  • California workers' compensation jurisdictional knowledge (3+ years)
  • SIP certification or must be obtained within 1 year of employment
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; professional certification may be required for some lines of business

Responsibilities

  • Manages workers' compensation claims determining compensability and benefits due, monitors reserve accuracy, and files necessary documentation with state agency.
  • Develops and manages claims action plans to resolution, coordinates return-to-work efforts, and approves claim payments.
  • Approves and processes assigned claims, determines benefits due, and manages action plan per claim or client contract

ARE YOU AN IDEAL CANDIDATE? Seeking a seasoned California Workers Compensation Examiner who values strong client partnerships, enjoys a reasonable caseload, and works within a well‑managed intake environment.

OFFICE LOCATION: GLENDALE, CALIFORNIA

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: To analyze mid- and higher-level workers compensation claims to determine benefits due; to ensure ongoing adjudication of claims within company standards and industry best practices; and to identify subrogation of claims and negotiate settlements.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES MAY INCLUDE
  • Manages workers compensation claims determining compensability and benefits due on long term indemnity claims, monitors reserve accuracy, and files necessary documentation with state agency.
  • Develops and manages workers compensation claims' action plans to resolution, coordinates return-to-work efforts, and approves claim payments.
  • Approves and processes assigned claims, determines benefits due, and manages action plan pursuant to the claim or client contract.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education & Licensing: 4 years of claims management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Professional certification as applicable to line of business preferred.
  • Licensing / Jurisdiction Knowledge: 3 or more years California workers compensation jurisdictional knowledge required, SIP required or must be obtained within one (1) year of employment

As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is $75-80K.
