Job summary

Progressive is seeking a senior claims specialist in California to investigate complex injury claims, assess coverage and liability, and determine the total value of each claim in collaboration with investigators, medical professionals and claimants.

The role is hybrid, with roughly four days per month in the office for meetings, coaching, and teamwork; more in-office time is possible if preferred. Requirements include 5+ years in claims handling or related combinations, and relevant degrees.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include five years of relevant work experience with two years in claims handling, or two years in claims handling with a bachelor’s degree, or four years of relevant work experience with two years in claims handling and an associate degree.
• Preferred skills include the ability to build rapport and effect settlements, strong negotiation and customer service skills, excellent organization and problem-solving abilities, and proficiency analyzing coverage and liability.

Responsibilities

• Investigate complex and high-risk injury claims, including attorney represented cases or those with litigation features.
• Consult with police officers, medical professionals, claimants and others; determine coverage, liability and total value of the claim.
• Collaborate with team during a hybrid work model with periodic in-office meetings for training and collaboration.

This position is available in Riverside, Irvine, San Diego, Pasadena, Torrance, Woodland Hills, Fresno, Modesto, Concord, Sacramento, CA.

As a senior claims specialist on our team, you’ll play a critical role in our ability to successfully and efficiently resolve injury claims. Investigating complex and high-risk claims – which may be attorney represented or have additional litigation features – you’ll consult with police officers, medical professionals, claimants and others involved in the accident. The information gathered will then be used while determining coverage, liability and the total value of the claim.

This is a hybrid role. You’ll be expected to report to an office about four days per month for important meetings, training, and collaboration and will have the benefit of continued coaching from a supportive team. If you prefer an in-office environment, you’re welcome to work in the office more than four days per month.

Minimum qualifications

• Five years of relevant work experience with two years in claims handling OR
• Two years in claims handling and a bachelor’s degree OR
• Four years of relevant work experience with two years in claims handling and an associate degree

Preferred skills

• Ability to quickly build rapport and successfully effect settlements
• Strong negotiation and customer service skills
• Excellent organization and problem-solving skills along with ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Demonstrated proficiency analyzing coverage and liability
• Ability to direct the use of discovery tools such as interrogatories, depositions and production of document
• Experience handling Auto Litigation claims

Compensation

• Based on location and level of experience
  • Fresno, Irvine, Riverside, San Diego,Modesto, Sacramento:You will be paid $36.00 - $47.00/hour
  • Concord, Woodland Hills, Pasadena and Torrance: You will be paid $39.00 - $51.00/hour
• Gainshare annual cash incentive payment up to 24% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
