Overview

Assigned to our Worker's Compensation Line of Business, the Adjuster III is responsible for prompt and independent review of insurance claims through effective research, evaluation, investigation, negotiation, and interaction with insureds or claimants. The Adjuster III typically handles mid-size or mid-complexity claims in this line of business. The role requires a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values, and adherence to the standards of AmTrust and the Claims organization. Experience handling Worker's Compensation Claims is required.

Responsibilities
  1. Investigate claims or coverage by making timely contact with involved parties, including insured or employer representatives, claimants or injured workers, witnesses, and producers.
  2. Analyze coverage applicability based on policy or statutes, consult with supervisors as needed, and draft position statements.
  3. Establish reserves based on estimated outcomes, adjusting reserves as facts and circumstances evolve.
  4. Collaborate with internal or legal counsel on claims involving legal considerations, building strong relationships and applying company standards.
  5. Negotiate non-litigated claims effectively, gaining trust through appropriate timing and communication.
  6. Coordinate with Managed Care and Medical resources for treatment plans and billing, obtaining necessary medical and other reports.
  7. Leverage critical thinking to assess and interpret key issues.
  8. Document findings clearly and succinctly in claims files and communications.
  9. Learn technical materials and improve through experience.
  10. Manage time efficiently, prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  11. Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, earning their respect and trust.
  12. Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years claims handling experience specific to Worker's Compensation
  • State licensure as required
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Skills in investigation, evaluation, and negotiation
  • Strong knowledge of insurance principles and practices
  • Ability to travel as needed

Preferred:

  • Licensure in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arizona
