Job summary

South Carolina State Accident Fund seeks a Claims Adjuster I to support the Santee Claims Team or UEF Team under the Claims Team Manager. You will provide workers’ compensation benefits and manage claims from intake to resolution.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and a SC Insurance Adjuster’s License within 12 months, plus strong customer service and data-entry skills. On-site with occasional travel; generous benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service, data entry, paralegal services, medical terminology, or related fields.
• Experience handling/adjusting/examining workers’ compensation or insurance claims.
• Knowledge of workers’ compensation laws, medical costs, and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide workers’ compensation benefits to injured workers and assist involved parties.
• Record accepted/denied body parts, lost time, and return-to-work dates.
• Determine claim compensability and monitor all lost time periods substantiated by medical documentation.
• Authorize and submit medical and lost time payments under the SC Workers’ Compensation Law.
• File all workers’ compensation forms timely and accurately.
• Monitor all claims per agency policy and attend Claims Review Team meetings.
