Job summary

The Third Group in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to lead forensic consulting for insurance, legal, and industrial clients in the region. You will investigate causes of failures, document findings, and contribute expert testimony while managing multiple projects and client relationships.

The role requires a PE license, 5+ years of experience, and the ability to travel locally up to 50%.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or higher.
  • PE license required in the state of employment (or ability to obtain quickly).
  • 5+ years of civil/structural engineering experience.
  • Project management and/or field investigation experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering/design software.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally and regionally (up to 50%).

Responsibilities

  • Investigate residential, commercial, and industrial properties to resolve claims and legal matters
  • Conduct field investigations, gather photographic evidence, and oversee field testing
  • Review construction drawings, contracts, specifications, and historical documentation
  • Prepare detailed reports on causes of failure, extent of loss, and remediation recommendations
  • Provide expert opinions and testimony in litigation matters
  • Manage multiple projects and collaborate with other industry experts
  • Develop and maintain strong, mutually beneficial client relationships

About the Opportunity

In this role, you will investigate and assess the cause, origin, and extent of structural failures, building envelope damage, and construction defects. You will document your findings in detailed reports, provide expert testimony in litigation matters, and manage multiple projects while cultivating strong, lasting client relationships.

What You'll Do
