OVERVIEW

Build your civil engineering experience with Merrick & Company as a paid Summer 2027 Civil Water Wastewater Engineer Intern in our San Antonio, Texas office. This internship is a great opportunity for a college or graduate-level Civil Engineering student to contribute to meaningful projects while learning alongside experienced engineers.

Merrick’s summer internship program offers meaningful, hands-on experience for students. Designed as a shorter-term, exploratory experience, internships allow students to apply what they’re learning in school while gaining exposure to real projects, professional collaboration, and day-to-day life at an employee-owned company.

The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2027.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The intern will be exposed to a variety of engineering tasks including wastewater and potable water systems design, the preparation of drawings and details, process models, cost estimates, operations and maintenance manuals, study and design reports, and other work products.

The intern will gain experience in collaborating with other disciplines, interfacing with clients and contractors, following schedules and budget commitments, working independently, communicating, and problem solving.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have graduation date after August 2027 to be eligible.
• Must be pursuing an engineering degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Must be currently enrolled in sophomore year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school.
• Must meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous internship(s) in Civil Engineering
• Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D
• Local candidates preferred
