Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Superintendent to lead field activities on water facilities projects. You will supervise craft workers, coordinate with field engineering, and manage safety, quality and schedules across various locations.

The role emphasizes learning project processes, examining shop drawings and submittals, and traveling to job sites to build complex infrastructure while delivering high standards and on-time performance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ work experience overseeing self‑performed concrete work in a heavy civil construction environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction disciplines, union agreements and jurisdictional issues, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings and other documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently supervise and evaluate craft performance.
  • Highly motivated with a demonstrated passion for excellence and initiative.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervisory direction of craft workers through foreman, managing productivity, safety, quality and schedule adherence.
  • Liaise between field engineering and craft to ensure compliance of drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate with other superintendents, subcontractors, and Kiewit staff to ensure smooth workflow and schedule adherence.
  • Resolve employee conflicts, grievances and scheduling difficulties, informing project management as appropriate.
  • Assist in schedule planning, determining craft labor levels, material quantities and equipment requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, attendance, and nondiscrimination policies across project operations.

As a Kiewit Superintendent, you will be responsible for a variety of field activities in order to execute the construction work on our projects. During your first few years you can expect to spend time learning and working on work plans, shop drawings, submittals, 5 week schedules, craft supervision, and project documentation.
