Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) in New Jersey is seeking Civil/Structural/Highway/Water Resources interns for the Bridgewater/Morris Plains offices.

Interns will conduct field investigations, analysis, 3D design, drafting, plan development, report writing, and submittal reviews on transportation projects. The internship offers exposure to civil/bridge/highway and water resources projects, with guidance from experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Student currently pursuing an engineering degree with interest in civil/structural/highway engineering.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willing to learn and work alongside experienced engineers in an office and field environment.

Responsabilités

• Perform engineering analyses and design work.
• Prepare cohesive and organized calculations.
• Draft and detail using 3D CAD tools.
• Assist with geometry layout and quantity development.
• Develop task deliverables for review by a Senior Engineer.
• Follow schedules and budgets for assigned tasks.
• Work with Senior Engineer guidance.
• Participate in field inspections at project locations and active sites.
• Assist with report writing.

Job Description GPI is seeking Civil/Structural/Highway/Water Resources interns for the New Jersey Branch with offices in Bridgewater and Morris Plains, NJ. Interns will be performing field investigations, analysis, 3D design, drafting, plan development, report writing, contractor submittal reviews, and construction‑phase site visits. Interns will work with experienced project teams to complete interesting projects related to civil, bridge, highway, and water resources engineering. The preferred candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have some knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Performing engineering analysis and design.
• Preparing cohesive and organized engineering calculations.
• Detailing and drafting using 3D CADD Software.
• Assist with geometric layout and quantity development.
• Developing task deliverables for review by a Senior Engineer.
• Performing tasks according to the assigned schedule and budget.
• Working independently under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.
• Participate in field inspections of future project locations and active construction sites.
• Assist with report writing.

Qualifications: A student who is pursuing a degree in engineering and has an interest in civil/structural/highway engineering. Good communicator, energetic, and have the ability to work in the office to obtain the full experience of working alongside our engineering staff.

Requirements

• Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration.
• Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language.
• Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members.
• Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.).
• Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working.
