Job summary

Audubon Companies seeks a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer for our Metairie, LA office to design equipment, components, structures and systems. You will prepare specifications, sketches, calculations and vendor drawings while coordinating with clients and contractors.

The role requires a PE license, ABET-accredited degree, 4+ years of experience, and familiarity with steel/concrete design codes. Expect site visits, cost control, and adherence to HSSE standards in a team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
• Bachelor’s Degree from ABET Accredited Institution preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering preferred.
• PE license required.
• Field experience preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience preferred.
• STADD, SACS, MAT 3D, Foundation software experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of the design of steel and concrete structures preferred.
• Working knowledge of structural design codes (AISC, ACI, API, IBC, etc.) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, prepare basic to advanced level specifications for project assignments detailing client performance requirements, specific component needs, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.
• Prepare engineering sketches, perform engineering calculations and develop analysis models for moderately complex project assignments.
• Prepare, review and/or approve vendor drawings for compliance with project specifications.
• Interact and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors and other consultants.
• Set realistic expectations and ensure assigned projects are completed according to schedule and within budget.
• Adhere to company quality standards and follow engineering checking and approval procedures.
• Comply with all company and client HSSE standards as well as federal and local HSSE regulations.
• Actively participate in hazard identification and observation programs and report unsafe acts or incidents.
• Interact with drafting/design group to develop and review engineering drawings.
• Visit job-sites to evaluate site, project requirements, and conditions.
• Visit vendor facilities to inspect equipment for compliance with requirements/specifications.
• Prepare inquiry and purchase requisitions as well as bid tabulations associated with equipment purchases.
• Perform checking of engineering drawings and calculations.
• Adhere to safe design practices and identify cost saving opportunities.
• Manage workload, budgets and project resources, requesting assistance as necessary.
• Serve as Engineer in Responsible Charge and adhere to PE sealing requirements.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS :

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
• Bachelor’s Degree from ABET Accredited Institution preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering preferred.
• PE license required.
• Field experience preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience preferred.
