Job description

Application close date:

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of engineers and specialists, you will provide civil and structural engineering design and analysis across all Blue Origin engine and component test sites. Reporting to the Director of Test Engineering and Development, your primary focus will be the design and analysis of civil structures - foundations, structural steel frames, and facility structural systems - that form the backbone of test infrastructure capable of handling the extreme loads of rocket engine testing. You will also support integration of engines and test components to test stands through custom tooling and fabricated structural hardware, working closely with mechanical/fluids engineers, CAD designers, construction project managers, and civil contractors to bring test facilities from concept to activation.

  • Design and develop 3D structural models and construction drawings using Creo; coordinate with CAD drafting team to ensure structural design intent is accurately reflected in construction documents

  • Design custom fabricated structural hardware and tooling for integration of engines and test components to test stands, including interface fixtures, adapter structures, and handling aids

  • Evaluate structural integrity of existing test stand structures for new load cases associated with test stand upgrades, new engine configurations, or facility modifications

  • Collaborate with construction project managers and civil contractors to ensure structural design intent is achieved during construction; support field RFIs and non-conformance disposition

  • Participate in HAZOP and facility safety reviews as the structural engineering representative; identify and communicate structural risks throughout the project lifecycle
