Tier 1 Utility Design, Inc. seeks a junior-level civil/structural design assistant to develop drawings for substation infrastructure under supervision. You will gain hands-on experience, helping to ensure technical quality and compliance with company and client standards.

You will prepare sketches for model preparation, resolve design interferences, and work with CAD tools (2D/3D) like AutoCAD and MicroStation. This is a growth-focused role in a collaborative, safety-conscious team environment.

Qualifications

• 0-4 years of progressively responsible relevant design experience.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• Familiar with basic engineering and/or design/drafting concepts.
• General understanding of other disciplines’ roles in the design process.
• Ability to complete tasks in accordance with project procedures and applicable codes and standards.
• Ability to discuss routine technical problems and communicate effectively with supervisor and project personnel.
• Ability to utilize advanced PC, 2D and 3D CAD and other applicable hardware and software, particularly MicroStation or AutoCAD.
• Proficient in civil and structural design drawings and able to utilize design tools effectively and provide training or checking as needed.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Junior-level design position performing work assignments involving independent judgment to determine a course of action consistent with established functional and organizational policies and goals. Proficient in design and able to utilize design tools effectively.

About the Role

• Under Project Manager’s/Professional Engineer’s supervision, develops drawings and sketches such as civil & structural design drawings for proposed substation infrastructure.
• Ensures project deliverables for technical quality, accuracy and compliance with Company and Client standards.
• Prepares design sketches utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge for drawing/model preparation by lower-level Designers or CAD Technicians.
• Reviews and resolves design interferences or issues.
