Job summary

H+M Industrial EPC is seeking a Civil/Structural Designer to execute civil and structural design efforts for heavy industrial facilities with minimal supervision. You will develop 3D models and 2D extractions using AutoCAD and CADWorx, perform field walks to define scope, and mentor junior designers.

The role requires 7+ years in heavy industrial design, code knowledge, and experience with laser scans (Leica Jetstream); you will work in a collaborative team to deliver multi-discipline packages

Qualifications

• 7+ years of AutoCAD and/or CADWorx experience in heavy industrial projects.
• Experience utilizing 3D laser scans (Leica Jetstream) as a modeling and design tool.
• Able to perform job walks to define civil structural scope of work for projects and complete those projects with minimal supervision.
• Good understanding and efficiency with standard design and drafting practices.
• Basic knowledge of the technical responsibilities of other disciplines associated with the total drafting, design, and 3D modeling effort.
• Code and Plant Specific Standard knowledge/comprehension a must; experience with AISC detailing, ACI, and PIP.
• Knowledgeable using Bluebeam to check and redline drawings.

Responsibilities

• Ensure design compliance with client/company specifications and codes including OSHA safety rules.
• Develop civil/structural 3D models and 2D extractions using AutoCAD and CADWorx.
• Collect design information from the field and verify designs for tie-ins and clearances.
• Provide field support during construction and assist with design reviews.
• Check and back-check drawings produced by drafting personnel.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to prepare multi-discipline design packages for construction.
• Resolve problems with clients and work within company safety policies.

Position Title: Civil/Structural Designer

Reports to: Civil/Structural Design Supervisor

Position Status: Permanent – Full Time

FLSA Status: Non- Exempt

Work Schedule: Standard schedule is Monday through Friday

Purpose: Execute civil and structural design efforts for projects related to heavy industrial facilities with minimal supervision. This will include some organization, planning and mentoring of junior designers and draftsmen.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Ensure design compliance with respective client/company specification and codes, including safety and OSHA regulations
• Develop civil/structural 3D models and 2D extractions under minimal supervision utilizing AutoCAD and CADWorx
• Knowledgeable of basic civil and structural material specifications to the extent that all information required for material purchase, fabrication and construction is reflected on the finished drawings.
• Perform field related work collecting design information and verifying designs for tie-ins, function and clearances to existing facility.
• Perform field support activities, where assigned, for engineering support during construction.
• Ability to check and back check drawings produced by drafting personnel.
• Interact with designers and engineers within the civil/structural group, and from other disciplines, in a team environment to create multi-discipline design packages for construction forces.
• Works with client to resolve problems.
• Work within company policy as outlined in the H+M Employee Handbook as well as the H+M Safety Manual and OSHA Safety rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the design lead or department manager as needed.
• Be able to identify and recommend work process improvements.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

Physical Requirements
