Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a CSA Construction Technical Services Specialist Lead to guide technical interpretation of drawings and specifications for world-class data center projects. You will lead on-site support, coordinate with home office and client representatives, and drive document control and change management in a hybrid work setting.

The role requires extensive civil/structural/architectural engineering or construction management experience, strong leadership, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in Civil/Structural/Architectural engineering or 15–20 years in construction management for heavy-industrial facilities including datacenters.
  • Understanding of construction means, methods, codes, and standards.
  • Experience interpreting home office engineering documents for construction purposes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience with certified training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance resolving in-progress issues related to drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate with home office engineering, outside firms, and client representatives.
  • Offer on-site technical support interpreting documents and drawings; input to change management.
  • Engage in permitting with AHJs and work with Design-Build contractors in the field.
  • Lead document management and ensure revision-controlled receipt of drawings and documents.
  • Oversee construction document control through leadership and guidance.
  • Respond to specification deviation requests within approved processes.
  • Collaborate with Field Quality, contractor, and Home Office Engineering to resolve NCRs.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the team toward objectives.

As a CSA Construction Technical Services Specialist Lead, you will

  • Provide leadership and guidance in resolving in-progress issues, discrepancies, or disputes related to technical interpretation of drawings and specifications; clarifying and, when required, expediting home office/responsible engineer(s) response to meet project needs in a timely manner
  • Ensure liaising with home office engineering, outside engineering firms, and client representatives
  • Provide On-site technical support in interpretation of engineering released documents, specifications, and drawings, including input to the change management process within your technical expertise.
  • Engage in the Permitting process and with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs),
  • Work with Design-Build contractors once their efforts move to the field
  • Effectively communicate with subcontractors leading to receipt and management of all key drawings and documents in a revision-controlled manner.
  • Lead the construction document management process,
    • providing oversight and guidance through a construction document control lead,
    • ensure effective communication with subcontractors leading to receipt and management of all key drawings and documents in a revision-controlled manner.
  • Act as technically competent lead in response to contractor or other party request for specification deviation in work or work product, working within the project approved spec deviation process.
  • Work with Field Quality, contractor, and Home Office Engineering to resolve Nonconformities (NCRs)
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to your team toward meeting these objectives.

Here's what you'll need
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working in Civil/Structural/Architectural engineering or 15-20 years’ experience in construction management for heavy-industrial process facilities including life sciences and datacenters. Heavy emphasis in Structural engineering needed
  • An understanding of construction-oriented means, methods, codes, and standards
  • Experience interpreting home office engineering documents for construction purposes
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience, including certified technical training
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Ability to read and understand Civil/Structural/Architectural engineering drawings

The base salary range for this position is $114,400.00 to $157,200.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
