Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a CSA Construction Technical Services Specialist Lead based in Greenville, SC. In this role, you will lead the technical resolution of project issues and guide your team in the rapidly evolving field of data center construction. This position demands at least 10 years of experience in Civil/Structural/Architectural engineering, effective communication skills, and the ability to read engineering drawings.

Job description

As a CSA Construction Technical Services Specialist Lead, you will lead the technical resolution of project issues and guide the team in the rapidly evolving field of data center construction.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and guidance in resolving in‑progress issues, discrepancies, or disputes related to technical interpretation of drawings and specifications and expediting home office or responsible engineer(s) response to meet project needs in a timely manner.
  • Ensure liaison with home office engineering, outside engineering firms, and client representatives.
  • Provide on‑site technical support in interpreting engineering released documents, specifications, and drawings, and contribute to the change management process within your technical field.
  • Engage in the permitting process and with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Work with design‑build contractors once their efforts move to the field.
  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors to receive and manage all key drawings and documents in a revision‑controlled manner.
  • Lead the construction document management process, providing oversight and guidance through a construction document control lead, ensuring all key drawings and documents are revision‑controlled.
  • Act as a technically competent lead in response to contractor or other party requests for specification deviation in work or work product, working within the project‑approved spec deviation process.
  • Work with field quality, contractor, and home office engineering to resolve nonconformities (NCRs).
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to your team toward meeting these objectives.

Location: The role is based out of our Greenville office but located at our project in Spartanburg, SC.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Civil/Structural/Architectural engineering or 15-20 years’ experience in construction management for heavy‑industrial process facilities, including life sciences and data centers, with heavy emphasis on structural engineering.
  • Understanding of construction‑oriented means, methods, codes, and standards.
  • Experience interpreting home office engineering documents for construction purposes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience, including certified technical training.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand Civil/Structural/Architectural engineering drawings.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $123,600.00 to $170,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
