Job summary

GPD Group in Virginia Beach is seeking a Civil Project Design Engineer with 7+ years of experience in federal, retail, educational, and healthcare spaces to join our Site Development team.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license, a B.S. in Civil Engineering, proficiency with Civil 3D or AutoCAD, stormwater modeling, and strong communication skills to coordinate with project managers, engineers, and designers across multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

• PE License required.
• Experience in Federal, Retail/Commercial, Educational (PK-12 and Higher Ed.), and Healthcare spaces.
• 7+ years of industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Multidisciplinary collaboration in Site Development projects including A&E design, field services and survey.
• Technical oversight of civil site development and stormwater management design.
• Mentoring and development of Site Development team.
• Administrative oversight including workflow tasks, scheduling, and QA to meet project plans and budget.

Role Requirements

• Civil Project Design Engineer with 7+ years of industry experience in the Federal, Retail/Commercial, Educational (PK-12 and Higher Ed.), and Healthcare spaces.
• Federal design experience a plus.
• PE License required.
• Experienced in Site Development design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Proficiency in design software to develop the design deliverables. Must be knowledgeable with Civil 3-D and/or AutoCAD.
• Proficient with stormwater modeling and management.
• Technical understanding of design standards.
• Thrives in a work environment where one collaborates with other team members (Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve appropriate design or drawing issues and accomplish objectives.
• Must possess excellent communication skills, professional writing skills and the ability to multi-task between several projects and priorities at one time.
• Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Some travel may be required for construction administration.
• Valid Driver’s License is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Multidisciplinary collaboration in our Site Development group provides the opportunity to interact with multiple stakeholders and in a wide variety of services that encompass our discipline in the development of site infrastructure projects: this includes complete A & E design, field services like environmental, geotechnical and survey.
• Technical oversight: overseeing the design process for civil site development and stormwater management, coordinating the permitting and jurisdiction applications/submittals, and ensuring the newer engineers’ work meets quality standards at GPD.
• Mentoring and developing the Site Development team to further our success in the industry: this includes not only civil engineering and technical training but empowering those teammates to find their passion and skills in our industry and translating that to continued career success.
• Administrative oversight: using Key Performance indicators, this includes developing, communicating, and tracking workflow tasks, scheduling, championing GPD’s quality assurance and client standards, and ensuring that project documents are consistent with project plans and within scope and budget.
