Job summary

Matrix PDM Engineering in Pittsburgh is seeking a Civil Senior Engineer I to lead industrial site development projects with strong technical judgment. You will develop design concepts, calculations, and construction drawings while coordinating with permitting agencies and utilities.

The role requires a PE licensure, a BS in Civil Engineering, and 6+ years of relevant experience. You will supervise designers, manage budgets, and act as engineer‑of‑record for civil/site scopes in a collaborative

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • 6+ years related engineering experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks under deadlines.
  • Detail oriented, quality focused.
  • Experience in industrial/commercial site development and rail layout/design.
  • Familiarity with local/state/federal permitting processes.
  • Proficient in Civil engineering software and MS Office.

Job Summary

The Civil Senior Engineer I must possess a strong technical background and sound engineering judgement which will be applied in the development of deliverables for industrial site development projects.

Essential Functions
  • Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values".
  • Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company's "Code of Business Conduct and Ethics".
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Develops design concepts, prepares calculations, writes specifications, and issues construction drawings
  • Interfaces with permitting agencies, rail operators, utility companies and/or municipalities providing utility services, etc.
  • Functions as Lead Engineer, supervising designers and other engineering staff, interfacing directly with project personnel and clients, and monitoring budgets and schedules.
  • Functions as engineer‑of‑record for civil/site project scope.
  • Prepares written scopes of work documents and coordinates efforts of topographic/ hydrographic survey and geotechnical subconsultants.
  • Prepares written technical reports.
  • Assists in preparation of proposals.
  • Performs other related duties, as directed.
  • Occasional overtime and travel may be required.
Qualifications
  • BS in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • 6+ years related engineering experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously under time sensitive deadlines.
  • Detail oriented, committed to quality.
  • Experienced in industrial and/or commercial site development, roads/streets/highways, storm drainage collection and retention/detention systems, potable water distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection and pumping systems, site grading, earthwork, etc.
  • Experienced in rail layout/design and rail operator industrial track standards/requirements and approval processes/procedures.
  • General understanding of local/state/federal regulatory agency permitting requirements and processes/procedures.
  • Proficient in common civil engineering and Microsoft software packages (HEC, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, EXCEL, WORD, e.g.)
  • Experience in bulk material handling and liquid terminal facilities is a plus.
