Civil Rights Investigator

Position Overview

The investigator plays a critical role in the university's responseto reported compliance and equity incidents, including thoseinvolving discrimination or harassment based on a protected status,retaliation and other student and employee misconduct andnoncompliance with university policies and rules.

Required Experience
  • Three years conducting civil rights, employment, educational,compliance or other investigations
  • Communicating confidential and sensitive information to a widerange of individuals while remaining impartial
  • Communicating, developing and delivering presentations to smalland large audiences
  • Managing multiple investigations simultaneously working withminimal supervision and assessing risk solutions for compliancewithin legal parameters

  • Bachelor's Degree

Additional Preferred
  • Juris Doctor or other advanced degree
  • At least two years of experience conducting trauma-informedinvestigations
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work on highly delicateand confidential situations under time constraints and withmultiple individuals, departments and agencies
  • Knowledge of federal and state anti-discrimination laws,including Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, Section 504/the ADA,FERPA, the Violence Against Women Act, HIPM and others (includingimplementation thereof)
  • Experience conducting investigations within higher educationenvironmentsFamiliarity with University of Idaho policies andprocedures
  • Knowledge and experience using case management software (e.g.Symplicity Advocate)
