Job summary

RICK Engineering Company in Denver, Colorado seeks a Civil Engineering Project Manager. You will lead landmark projects, manage client relationships, supervise technical staff, and coordinate with public agencies to deliver high‑impact civil infrastructure work.

Qualified candidates have a BSCE, Colorado PE or eligibility within six months, and 5–10 years of relevant experience (8–12 without PE). AutoCAD/Civil 3D experience is preferred and mentorship is available.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have a BSCE degree, Colorado Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer (or the ability to obtain it within the next 6 months), plus a minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience (or the equivalent work experience of 8-12 years in this industry without PE licensure).

Candidates For This Position Must Demonstrate The Following Requirements
  • Strong independent thought and decision-making abilities
  • A minimum of three years of management experience in supervising the work of technical staff
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
  • Demonstrated project management ability
  • Adept ability in establishing and maintaining strong and positive working relationships with clients/public agency personnel, and in-house staff
Managerial experience for the qualified candidate will include the following
  • Management of construction documents and contracts
  • Management of construction support and field coordination
  • Management of project schedules and budgets
  • Preparation of contracts, fee proposals, and scopes of work
  • Significant experience in client and public agency interactions
  • Management of design and support staff
  • Demonstrated high-level leadership and management; ability to accept and respond appropriately to constructive feedback and interactions with others
  • Ability to apply seasoned and strategic time management skills and strategies
  • Leadership experience with project teams
  • Ownership of client relationships
  • Management of multiple projects
  • High level of comfort in working with public agencies
  • Participation in proposals preparation and business development
  • Civil 3D knowledge and/or experience (primarily used for review rather than production)
Technical Experience Will Include The Following
  • Ability to perform conceptual and preliminary engineering design studies (incorporating land use and zoning considerations, assessment and consideration of site constraints, infrastructure requirements, and potential regulatory issues)
  • Preparation/processing of regulatory plans
  • Preparation/processing of public improvement plans (private and public)
  • Ability to perform constructability reviews
  • Experience with a range of construction support services
  • Ability to apply engineering principles, techniques, and procedures for civil engineering design
  • Ability to successfully accept and carry out responsibilities for the design team's direction, control, and planning while setting realistic goals and making decisions independently
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of construction staking requirements
Preferred Experience Includes The Following
  • Knowledge of jurisdictional codes, standards, and procedures in the State of Colorado and the surrounding region (strongly preferred)
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D and the ability to effectively review and direct technical production (preferred) Additional Attributes
  • Possesses working knowledge of business and management principles associated with strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production procedures, interviewing and hiring methods, and the coordination of people
  • Relates well to others and maintains a high level of respect and confidence from coworkers and public agencies
  • Demonstrates an ability to negotiate effectively
  • Demonstrates a high level of competence in written and verbal communication
