Job Summary:

Black & Veatch is an engineering, consulting, and construction company. In this role, you will focus on large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure projects, leading significant portions of design and construction phases while collaborating with internal and external teams.

Responsibilities:

• Perform design of projects from the conceptual and bid phase through design completion for project needs and requirements that are set by the project managers based off client needs

• Assist the Engineering Manager in maintaining project schedules and budgets

• Assist the Engineering Manager in managing sub-consultants

• Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, interface directly with the client or sub-consultants

• Support business development through writing of technical approaches, scopes of work, and presentation to clients

• Utilizes knowledge of regularly used civil concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the water engineering industry

• Applies knowledge to complex projects, find and develop non-standard design solutions to better serve clients project specifications

• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to less experienced engineers

• Responsible for effective communication with other engineering disciplines and project team

• Prepares a variety of complex engineering deliverables

• Performs complex research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection

• Prepares complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements

• Plans and conducts independent evaluation, selection and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria

• Reviews engineering work and/or assignments of early career professionals. Is responsible for one or more of the following: overseeing collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work; leading smaller production teams; and serving as the responsible charge for a project.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing

• Minimum of 5 years related work experience

• All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline

• Licensed PE or ability and interest to obtain PE and/or be in active pursuit of registration

• Thorough understanding or water and wastewater design (i.e., Infrastructure, Conveyance, Pump Stations/Lift Stations)

• Ability and motivation to lead portions of complex projects with guidance and mentorship
